Whenever a significant awards ceremony draws close, there’s always a demand for introducing fresh award types to honor underappreciated efforts and delight the spirits of followers who have specialized interests.
A fellow writer made the case advocating for terror-themed awards. It would be amazing. So would board games, which is someone's personal cause. Yet I need to apologize in advance if I try to elbow in front since similar to dedicated enthusiasts, there's a strong justification backing this proposal stands as crucial above others. Here's the proposal: It's essential to create a classification for brain-teasing titles.
Organizing Gaming Categories
Categorizing art by genre isn't exact; opinions vary greatly, and inevitably spark debates and end in fuzzy definitions. This explains why film award organizations steer clear of genre categories. But it is an unavoidable compromise within the realm of interactive entertainment, showing incredible range they barely qualify a single creative category.
For the full spectrum of achievement in video games to gain proper attention, and for games of all stripes to receive proper recognition, genre categories are essential.
Existing Game Classification System
Prominent interactive entertainment events currently feature award types recognizing Action-oriented games, Action/Adventure, RPG experiences, Combat games, Sim/Strategy, plus athletic and racing experiences. Together, these award types actually cover numerous genres, making space possible accommodating various experiences.
This doesn't apply to brain-teasing titles. There’s simply nowhere to accommodate them. Consider three of this year’s best games, showing diverse approaches: building puzzles in a particular game, intense tile-matching from another release, thought-provoking social scenarios of a third title. What category would fit them within current classifications? Nowhere, that’s where.
Recognition Challenges
Many instances occur excellent brain-teasers launched regularly lacking appropriate categories in entertainment awards, unless they happen to qualify classification types such as Handheld titles, VR/AR Game, and the highly challenging small studio competitions.
- A renowned logic title wasn’t nominated completely during that awards season
- Another creative title was excluded in 2019
- A beloved organization game received no acknowledgment in 2021
- Limited numbers of puzzle games barely qualified for niche award types
Importance of Logic Titles
Frequently they represent small games, but the art of the puzzle game holds tremendous importance. Famous handheld logic titles stand as the most-played games in the world and have been for many years.
The famous puzzle experience rivals well-known building titles claiming status as highest-selling title ever; it’s also in the running as greatest title ever. Logic titles represent cornerstones to the art of video games, and engaging across multiple categories.
The Solution and Justification
Logic titles wouldn't face such difficulty. It would be easy to populate multiple candidates engaging, different, qualified experiences annually without trouble — perhaps, with difficulty, since numerous excellent so many good games out.
To emphasize again, these are games without proper classification at major gaming awards. Brain-teaser creators operate at the challenging frontier game development, developing some of most fundamental forms of gaming itself. Similar to movie stunt professionals, they merit acknowledgment. Don't make them wait decades.
